The Skivvy

I know it is difficult to find useful employment for a 16 year old who will only be present for a week but why can't companies who take on work-experience students give these guys something stimulanting to do? Spending 4 hours burning CDs is not going to impress anyone as to how offices work or whether it is work that is worth doing in a future career.

Hehe, maybe work experience is the root cause of worklessness ;) BG

I don't know. My work experience taught me the valuable lesson that if you are the youngest one in the room, you will get dumped the crap jobs that everyone else has avoided for the last year... but also that if you do those jobs while smiling and chatting with the right people, then on the second week, they go out of their way to give you more interesting stuff to do, and then when the time is up, they write you a glowing reference (so that hopefully your next job is a better one) and give you a nice present. Which seemed pretty accurate to me.
